REALLY EXCITED!!!

I made it here safe.

REALLY EXCITED!!!

So, we had to get up at 315 in the morning to head out of the MTC to get to the airport.  We got there around 530, through TSA by 645 and our flight started to board at 720.  While we were waiting a guy came up to us and trying arguing with us about the Book of Mormon and that the Bible says no more books-- but he didn't want to listen to anything we said --  so after he was done we walked over to our flight and got in line. One of the desk ladies called us over (Elder Lundquist, Sister Corona and I) and bumped us all to first class.

We got to the airport and met President Thomas and his wife, they are great people love them, and the AP who helped us get our bags and load them in the truck, we then drove to Vista.

We had interviews and a little training. Then they feed us lunch --  I guess that it is a tradition that the new missionaries have to eat a California burrito - I got a hamburger burrito.

After that we went to another room and I got my trainer Elder Pond he is a great guy. I really enjoy him and he is a great worker.  I am in an administrative car area, so I do need to by a bike soon.  The zone leader is letting me use one of theirs because they are in a car area. I met a couple of the people in the ward and they are great for the members in the they feed us dinner every night. We are assigned to work in the Vista 5th Ward.  I love the area.
I love you all! AND Terrance,  you will love the mission field.

What is happening over at the Hyde's house in Georgia.

It is great here in Carlsbad the weather is great.

My P-days are normally on Mondays but because we arrived yesterday the whole mission's Pday was moved to today.

So, my first area is the Vista 5 ward and I love the area. In July the mission is going to take a trio to the Battalion Visitor Center  -- so that will be cool.

Tell Leavitt "awoooooo". And Cindy, Loralee and Anna that I wish them luck in school and I pray for them. Shea, my first car is also a red Corolla.

I witnessed my first protest. They have one in the same place every Tuesday.

Love you dad and have fun in your new calling --  you will do great. I love you mom. I am doing great out here and I know that you will do great at work and if you do decide to go back to school.

One thing I found and challenge myself to do is write where I have used my agency in the last day and then write the blessings I got from it -- so I can read it like I read the scripture and I want you all to know that you can never fall or fail if you read the Book of Mormon.

Excited ...

This week went by really fast. A lot of classes before we leave here. Went to the temple again today it is always great. Got a new district this week and they just started to open up and talk more. One of the things I loved the most is when I would go and introduce the new missionaries --  their spirit is great.

Not much else happened this week other than I am exited to get to my mission. Sorry I don't have any other things to say other than I love you guys  -- all of you.

GREAT

Life here at the MTC is great.

Elder Lundquist and I taught two investigators this week, Huck (Austin) Huckvale and Dennis Everett.  They are great people and wish them luck in their lives.  It is crazy how much you can love someone so quick and get so much joy when they come closer to Heavenly Father.

Went to the temple today with the whole zone which got a new district after the last one left  -- four new elders and four new sisters. They are all really cool.  I have been to the temple twice now at the MTC and it is great just like always.

Elder Lundquist and I have been the new zone leaders for almost a week now -- got asked to do it last Sunday -- so i carry around a zone phone --  It is a weird feeling to have a phone go off in your pocket at the MTC. We got 8 new missionaries 4 elders and 4 sisters to our zone this week and will get the same amount of elders and sisters this up coming week. The six sisters in my district are fun to be around and we are all getting really close. It gets fun around mail time cause they remind me about checking it all the time.

I play volleyball during exercise time and on p-days, and I wish I would have played back home, because it is really fun to play.

The letters from dear Elder are really nice to read. My MTC address is Elder Hyde, California Carlsbad Mission, 2005 N. 900 E. Unit 77, Provo,UT 84604

Tomorrow we get a special Easter Sunday devotional --  looking forward to it. I got my travel plans -- I leave the MTC on the 24 at 350 in the morning and fly to San Diego.  Will be there at 9 in the morning --  looking forward to that.

I wish all those serving and preparing to serve the best of luck.

This calling is great.

LOVE it HERE

So, the MTC is a great place,
 I really love it here.

The spirit is really strong being with the tons of missionaries.

My comp is Elder Lundquist this Elder is great. He came from Pennsylvania.

So I was called to be the District Leader for my district of 6 Sisters and 2 Elders( including myself).  In my district there is a total of eight of us -- Sister Teage, Sister Sammons, Sister Andrews, Sister Malstede, Sister Hugh, Sister Scott. Those are all the Sisters and then it is just me and Elder Lundquist for the elders.

So our Zone and the other zones think that it is pretty funny how our district is. Because the normal districts are mostly Elders not sisters.

Did I mention -- This place has the best spirit and I love it here.

My branch president tells us a quote of " all you can do is all you can do, and all you can do is enough".

My companion and I have taught three lessons and have another one today --  then next week we have two more investigators we get to teach.

My zone leave for their mission on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday -- so Elder Lundquist and I will be the only ones left on our whole side of the residence building. And with us being the only two elders in our district  -- we are the only ones in our dorm room.

Love you, mom dad shea anna loralee cindyann and leavitt  -- a lot ... and I love it here.

(The above photos are NOT Elder Hyde's -- just wanted to show what he is seeing on a daily basis.)
